In Response to Re: Remember Court TV?:
Diane...did you happen to watch "Dr. Drew" last night? OMG! I was expecting to see more commentary on the "dismissed juror" but was I in for a surprise...new police interrogation videos! It was Jodi's mother (Sandra) and father (William) shown in separate interviews. Jodi's mother was feeling ill upon hearing the news and said she felt like she "wanted to puke." She said that Jodi left for Utah and returned as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Jodi told her mother that she had a nice time in Utah and actually wanted to stay because her friends were going "4-wheeling" but she had to get back home due to work and the need to make some money. Mom wondered how someone could act so normally following such a horrific act! Then she went on to say that Jodi "has mental problems." She continued on saying that "Jodi would "freak out all the time." Say what??? She related that Jodi's friends used to call her and tell her that Jodi "needed counseling." She said she even got phone calls "in the middle of the night." Now this was nearly five years ago when Jodi was first arrested. The interrogator told Jodi's mother and father that in spite of all of the evidence they had pointing to Jodi as Travis' killer, Jodi wouldn't open up and give them any information. Jodi's dad wasn't surprised, either. He talked about her mood swings, how badly she treated her mother and didn't seem at all surprised that she killed Travis. He seemed to put together the gun theft at his in-law's home with the news that Jodi had killed Travis.
This is all stuff the jury will never see...sigh.

wow how the heck did I miss all that .. darn it I watched The Voice and then I got hung up on the Housewives of the OC.. I did check in on the trial coverage channel and saw all the breaking news about the juror being released but then did not really learn much about that and somehow missed these.
OK so after the parents heard what happened to Travis.. do you think it entered their minds that Jodi might have had something to do with it? boy what a terrible spot that would be to be in.. wondering if your daughter had killed this guy .. and what happened to get the juror tossed out? I was dozing off listening to this woman psychologist.. the testimony is pretty much droning on and not making any case for abuse that i can see. I am wondering why the defense went with her.. it is the opposite of helpful from what I can see.

Jodi's mom & dad both realized that she could have done the deed. Her mom talked about her mental problems, had told Jodi in the past that she needed help, that she had a fantasy about being abused or mistreated as a child. Jodi, according to her, precipitated one episode of the parents searching her room because she was apparently growing pot with some other teens in the 8th grade. The parents turned her in to the police because they felt she was out of control and they wanted to scare her into having something done. That probably wasn't the best way to get help for Jodi and obviously it didn't work. Jodi eventually moved out to escape parental oversight and quit high school. The mother, at one point during the interview, did say she couldn't believe Jodi could do such a thing...but she moved back and forth throughout...seemingly believing it, then rejecting the idea that Jodi could do it. She asked her outright if she had been to AZ and Jodi answered that she hadn't...and get this...Jodi said she had the gas receipts to prove it! That's an important argument in the prosecutions's case.
The father describes her as "strange" and talks about how Jodi would scream at her mother for over an hour at a time. The father's description is reminiscent of psychopathy or sociopathy.
The female psychologist has an excellent reputation with survivors of spouse abuse in CA and elsewhere but she seems to have been pulled into Jodi's lies and is under her "spell." She apparently became ill just before the lunch break today and the afternoon session was canceled. I wondered if she suddenly realized that she's been "had" by Jodi and that the DA was going to make mincemeat of her testimony on cross-examination! Just a passing thought...
Dr. Drew is going to discuss the parents' police interviews and what red flags have been raised to create a high index of suspicion for "mental illness" or personality problems.
