In Response to Re: Remember Court TV?:
Apparently you & I are not the only ones who find it difficult to listen to Dr. Alyce LaViolette's comments regarding Travis. I heard one of the commentators suggesting that the reason she will not be testifying tomorrow (Monday 4/15) is that she has an appointment with a physician due to apparent stress-related chest pain which she was seen and treated for in a local ER. She has been getting some terrible backlash from court watchers who comment on Facebook and Twitter about her "performance" at trial. Many, if not most of the comments are really nasty and some have gone so far as to say to organizers of future seminars and meetings not to hire her. She has really brought this on herself for a number of reasons, not the least of which is her steadfast refusal to admit that she might have been mistaken and the way she rationalizes and justifies Jodi Arias' behaviors from the time she was a young girl. She seems to have relied upon just a couple of sources for her "facts" and for most people whom I've heard comment, Dr. LaViolette's perceptions of what Travis' friends have said either don't have the ring of truth to her or they shore up Jodi's version of the domestic violence SHE claims led her to kill Travis in self defense. Puh-leeze! Dr. LaViolette is so out of touch and in her zeal to be the "expert" and a "victim's advocate" she is ignoring her common sense! I have the feeling that when she goes home after this is over, she will begin to look to some trusted colleagues and others for "feedback" and it will slowly dawn on her that she's been taken in by a cunning sociopath.
Speaking of sociopath, Jodi is tweeting smart remarks and trash comments with the help of a "friend" of six years...a woman named "Donavon" (can't remember her last name.) Why on earth would she want to do something that could clearly undermine her credibility? I don't know if this will have an effect on the trial proceedings but I sure hope her attorneys make her cut it out. Then, there's the problem of the "Manifesto" Jodi has written and is now signing copies of in anticipation of her possible forthcoming "fame." History tells us that most "Manifesto" authors are sociopaths, people who are extreme narcissists or who have other serious mental issues in play.
I think the trial and the punishment phase were projected by the judge to be over by April 12 or thereabouts. Now they are adding extra courtroom days. The price of trying Jodi Arias was last quoted as in the neighborhood of $1.5 million dollars and they still have to take the trial to it's conclusion. The judge's hands are tied even though she's trying to speed things along. If that attorney Kurt Nurmi does any part of the rest of the trial, that will clearly add days to it...he appears to have one speed and that is verrry sloooow. Juan Martinez has some rebuttal witnesses and one of them is reported to be a psychologist. I imagine that's going to cause an increase in stress for Dr. LaViolette. I hope her doctor gives her something for anxiety for the remainder of the trial (after she's through testifying) and I do hope she is not physically ill but she clearly thought she could handle this when she went into it. She has the confidence to go head-to-head with a really tough DA. She seriously underestimated him. I think her prior court experience must have been "cut & dried" and she thought it was always how trials go. Not high profile death penalty cases...everyone on both sides has too much to lose so they tend to pull out all of the "stops."
It's a shame that in defending Jodi, her defense team has sought to trash his reputation and portray him as the perpetrator...but Jodi has allowed the dark corners of her life to be explored and exposed to the glare and the spotlight of public scrutiny and she has forced their hands. To someone like Jodi, any attention is good attention and she doesn't care what she has to do or who she has to destroy to get it. Think about all of the lives she's ruined during this whole saga. It boggles the mind! Not just the ones we see getting fileted by Jodi's testimony but think of the long term psycholgical damage to Travis' family and the friends who found him murdered in his own home. I'm sure there must be others...young nieces and nephews, close friend's children and the like who have seen their parents' agony and heard bits & pieces of whispered conversations they put together with a child's reasoning skills and cannot begin to understand what happened...they only know it was something really, really bad to make Travis disappear forever.

Boy this has been an interesting if frustrating trial to watch. I guess This Mis LaViolette will have to think back on this case and the trail and her testimony for a long time to come. I am sure that she will be reminded of it many times in the future. Wonder if she watched the rest of the evidence before she testified or if she changed her mind later..
I almost fell out of my chair when I heard Jodi's friend talking about the texting.. she is really crazy. I bet it is killing Jodi to have to just sit there and not talk or comment or whatever she wants to do. Guess she did not think her points were getting out and making fun of the prosecuter.. wow she thinks she is so smart but she is a really bad judge of human nature because these tweets are not getting her the kind of attention she wants and it is really dumb of her.
and then yesterday, the image of Jodi in the reflection, the mistrial request from Jodi's attorney and the prosecuters response and discussion of the texting.. wow

The "tweeting" by Jodi Arias is another example of why she has Borderline Personality Disorder rather than PTSD. How Drs. Samuels & LaViolette could even think she falls into the category of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is offensive to me and I am sure to many, many, many thousands of men & women who suffer from this problem. I acquired mine after my son suffered a severe high spinal cord injury in a diving accident. From everything I know about this condition, Jodi Arias is not suffering from it.. To say she's suffering because the of the lie she told about the "masked intruders" is laughable on it's face! How can someone suffer trauma from an event that never happened by people who never existed? It is generally a severe and unusual trauma that is ongoing and the behavioral changes reflecting the stress create problems in psycho-social functioning, the ability to perform one's professional or employment responsibilities and other disruptions of function in major life activities. The measurable and quantifyable changes due to the ongoing stress may be the frequent experiencing of intrusive thoughts or flashbacks related to the stressful event complete with adrenaline response (fight or flight,) recurrent nightmares in which the event is replayed over and over again, hypervigilance, exaggerated startle response, irritability, impulsive behaviors and insomnia to name a few. Some studies suggest that there is a change in neuroendocrine function brought about or exacerbated by PTSD...in other words, the brain chemicals and hormones which are secreted in quantities to satisfy a biofeedback mechanism now secrete at a higher level due to constant stimulation by the presence of unremitting stress. One can easily see how this happens in members of the military who have constant exposure to the horrors of war and no way to mitigate the danger they face every single day in war zones. Jodi Arias has the body temperature of a trout...she is as cool as a cucumber. There is no way she's ever had PTSD. Any loss of sleep she ever had was due to a noisy environment in the jail. I can just hear Nancy Grace saying, "Oh, boo hoo! Get over it!"
Getting back to the "tweets," Jodi has shown extremely poor judgment by hounding and harrassing those people she assumes are her enemies or who are out to "get her." Ever the narcissist, she thinks she is at the center of everyone else's world just as she is in her own little "Jodi Universe." She may have a smart mouth and say cutting or belittling things which are aimed at the DA and the press but no one's paying attention to her problems...her rantings are to let everyone know she's still around and she will exact her revenge...a constant theme for her...look at the revenge she got on poor Travis!
The "eye reflection" is a late attempt to bolster the defense's rather weak case. It wouldn't mean a thing. Ditto for the frequent requests for a "mistrial." Nothing has happened to warrant a mistrial. The defense is grasping at straws and trying to "preserve the record" for a possible appeal if she gets the death penalty. I'm thinking they should let it go and allow Jodi to request a new trial due to "ineffective assistance of counsel." They have not been good at all...no matter what the legal soothsayers opine on television. I wouldn't want either one of them defending me...I'd rather do it myself. Their case has been so transparent. They are woefully outmatched. If Jodi gets off with a light sentence or a slap on the wrist, it will not be because of their efforts.
Drs. Samuels & LaViolette are in the unenviable position of becoming "has-beens" before our very eyes. I think those two are "toast," professionally speaking. They'll both have plenty of free time to think about their mis-steps.
It's been a long 51 days, hasn't it?
