does anyone know anyone who beat ovairian cancer?
I have always feared cancer in general. I seemed to know that ovarian cancer is very difficult to detect, hence, the lower survival statistics. So, I had a stronger fear of that one. I did not know until after my surgery that it is a cancer that can recurr.
I do know a woman who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, gosh, I'd have to guess at how many years ago it was, maybe over 20 years. After the first year passed they did some sort of procedure to take a second look. She is still alive today. She lives in a nursing home due to other health issues.
I was diagnosed in November, 2007. It was an incidental finding as I was having hernia surgery. I had three day-long chemo treatments. I have the periodic CA-125 blood test to check for recurrence. No matter how much time passes, I still have anxiety before, during and after those tests.
When I feel anxious, I try to think of Rose. I try to remember the miracle of the discovery of my tumor.
peace, hope, oourage, love
