I ALSO HAVE NEUROPATHY FROM THE COURSES OF TAXOL I WAS GIVEN. MY ONCOLOGIST CALLED THIS DELAYED SIDE EFFECT RARE, AND THE FIRST I REALLY HEARD ABOUT IT WAS WHEN I WAS TOLD IT COULD BE PERMANENT. THE ACCUPUNCTURIST I SAW LAUGHED WHEN I TOLD HER THAT, AND SAID THAT SHE SEES PEOPLE ALL THE TIME FOR NEUROPATHY, AND THAT IT WAS VERY COMMON.
THANKFULLY I DON'T HAVE MUCH PAIN, BUT MY FEET DRIVE ME A LITTLE CRAZY AT NIGHT, AND COLD WATER DOES SEEM TO BE THE BEST RELIEF.
WHEN YOU GO THROUGH CANCER TREATMENT, MINE WAS 6 MONTHS OF CHEMO, THEN RADIATION, AND NOW ARIMIDEX, WHICH HAS VERY NASTY SIDE AFFECTS; ACHING JOINTS, STIFFNESS, AND SWELLING OF THE FINGERS, YOU JUST WANT TO GET BACK TO BEING YOURSELF. I HAVE TO SAY I WAS VERY ANGRY ABOUT THE LACK OF INFORMATION, OR ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NEUROPATHY, SO WHEN SOMEONE SAYS CONSULT YOUR ONCOLOGIST, I KIND OF LAUGH, AS I FOUND MINE'S RESPONCE TO BE WHOLEY UNSATISFACTORY.
IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS, THEY WOULD BE WELCOME.
Thank you for your message.
I have become very discouraged about the neuropathy. I can't get the help I need, but it doesn't really matter - nothing helps. It has made depression for me much worse. I can't drive to the grocery store and have no one to help me and there are no organzitions that will help - unless you are classified as"dirt poor".
This has been a bad week for me - has kept in tears - just wishing I had some kind of a normal life and be able to enjoy a few things.
Thanks for listening.
