In Response to RE: Marketing and Promoting Your Book by tshandy33
That might be true, but I don’t believe authors can leave their sales to luck and not do everything possible to promote their books. Rankings can be tracked through Amazon.com and other sites, and if potential buyers are directed to the author’s website (by those targeted by promotions) sales may be tracked that way. Traditional publishers track sales and authors may contact their publishers for this information. Being asked to talk about (and sign) one’s books at different venues provides the opportunity for book sales, and creating a buzz is always a good thing. Positive book reviews also stimulate sales. Authors need to work harder than ever to promote their books and marketing plans are now a standard part of book proposals.
