This is the second time that my "furkids" have tried to let me know that something was about to happen. And, once again, I wasn't smart enough to understand them. Yesterday, Tuesday 07/29/08, I was just finishing up grooming my 3 Scotties and to be honest was exhausted. All 3 normally well-behaved, patient dogs were terrors and totally uncooperative while trying to groom them. I had just placed Morgan our 3 yr female Scottie into the tub to bathe her when the quake struck. Quakes strike so quickly that I have found that there is absolutely NO TIME to react. I literally held onto Morgan and the side of the tub as my house "rolled". I did notice Courage and Harley were pacing up and down the hallway outside the bathroom door where Morgan and I were.
If I had been able to understand all 3 furkids' abnormal behaviour outside while grooming them, I would have been able to prepare myself for the oncoming quake. It wasnt so much that this particular quake was so strong, but that it was so long and rolling. The only items in my house disturbed were my dolls and teddy bears in the "doll room" were thrown off shelves.
Knowing there WILL be a next time, I have learned from yesterday's experience. I will be more attentive to my dogs actions, because I truly feel from their abnormal behaviour yesterday (misbehaving and constant running outside), they were trying to let me know something (earthquake) was about to happen.
Have any of ya'll experienced your dogs trying to warn you of an event such as I experienced yesterday? Linda
