Thanks again for the good advice about keeping Ellie cool during our planned weekend in hot country. Well, we didn't go. The projected 97 to 100 degrees was just too daunting for me to face. It was even too hot at home, on the coast, until our lovely fog rolled back in on Saturday night.
However, I did some research, typed 'cooling bandanas' in the search box, and found several businesses that sell the bandanas with the water obsorbing crystals in them, made for pets and people. My plan now is to order some so I'm prepared for the next time we face the heat.
I think the best option for Ellie will be a cooling bandana around her neck. They come with a loop to thread her collar through, so it stays in place. I noticed that she radiates a lot of heat from her spine when she is hot, so cooling her neck will help keep her body temperature near normal. I'm sure she will look very cute, too!
I give my spoiled baby "Rascal" Ice cubes (fron a fountain drink) for treats when we are out in the heat.He seems to injoy them (I think because he thinks he's getting my drink.LOL) & they help keep him cooled down .
