All my dogs have been rescues and I always had 2 or 3 at the time. I'm now down to 1 and because of my age felt I couldn't handle more.
My little girl was practically at death's door when I got her. She'd been kept in a cellar for a year and had never been outdoors. Finally the so-called owner decided he needed money for beer & so started dragging her around to find someone to buy her. Thank God there were no takers. I got a call about 9:00 p.m. on a terrible rainy night. As I had 2 dogs I really didn't want another but my niece kept calling. Finally I went and such a sorry sight. She is a small chihuahua mix and was being pulled around by a clothesline. The ugliest thing I'd ever seen. That was 12 yrs. ago & I was really blessed to have found her. I couldn't report the men because they were friends of my niece's neighbors & not the type to cross. They should have been reported by someone because 3 other dogs were living in that same cellar.
It cost me quite a bit of money for medical care but she's my baby and from her actions I feel she remembers where she came from and is grateful for where she is.
This is a long post but I want people to know we must be aware of what animals are being put through. We're their only hope.
I didn't know about this forum and am so glad you're here. Animals are my first love.
