Do you have young adult children, grandchildren, nieces/nephews, etc. planning a Spring Break International Getaway soon? In addition to the following information for the relative staying here in the US...
1. keep a copy of contact info: hotels, airlines, local embassy/consulate, etc.
2. have on hand xeroxed copies of their passport, driver's license, and credit card info, etc.

On this website there will be specific advice for international travelers as well as current travel warnings and travel alerts.
A favorite destination of many young persons (and this older person -www.aarp.org/community/editor/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/wink_smile.gif" />) is Mexico, which is currently under Travel Alert through 8/20/2010. Although this alert primarily applies to the border towns, the state department also advises caution throughout the country.
On the same site they will find a link giving specific advice to young people planning independent travel to Mexico:
