I'm kind of stuck in Vegas for the time being but it's okay. I love this town. Not many places where you can go grocery shopping, and win back what you spent with the change before you even leave the store? Okay, it doesn't always turn out that way but it's at least possible ;0)
Anyway, I've lived in many places in the U.S. and abroad. There are still places I'd love to see though, like (all bulleted links are to images):
- pyramids in Egypt (it's fascinting)
- Amazon rainforest (meet real native people and learn their customs/survival skills)
- Ausrailian outback (guided by an Aborigines and learn their customs/survival skills)
- Serengeti in Africa (and other places where wild animals and native people live; not with a bunch of other tourists though)
- China's Great Wall (because I learned the history of why and how it was built)
- Rome (for the works of Michelangelo, my artistic hero, amongst others)
- Okinawa (I was born there and haven't been back since Reversion in '74 and know it's changed)
I'm researching ways to travel for the least possible cost but still travel well. So, as I find links I'll post and share them here. If you have suggestions or links, please share too. I have a blog Thing of it is and write for www.examiner.com/x-20521-Las-Vegas-Internet-Examiner?showbio">Examiner.com and am always looking for topics to write about.
If you're ever in Vegas, you might enjoy a helicopter ride down The Strip (check behind the Mirage to set it up and go). It's a fantastic view. I took a helicopter ride with an other company from Vegas to the Grand Canyon, too (where you land for refreshments before returning... sweet). I heard the Blimp tour includes a dinner and is nice, slow and great for romatics. I want to do the balloon tour but everybody I know is too scaredy pants to join me on that and I don't want to go by myself... unless I have to ;0).
In the meantime, here's a bit of Vegas video you might enjoy.
Bellagio Fountains at Thing of it is (this has got to be the best free show in Vegas)
If you leave a reply about where you'd like to go before you kick the bucket, please leave links if possible. I love to ooo and awww....
I've had the same problem trying to find friends willing--and able (physically and financially!) to go up in a balloon with me! Finally found one and actually booked a flite in Orlando 2 yrs ago but the other grp that was to share the balloon baled and they wouldn't go up with just the 2 of us so that was that. Will be visiting Vegas in Jan--would it be too cold then? I really want to try the new glass outlook over the Grand Canyon and was considering either the plane or helo trip to the bottom with lunch so any recomendations would be most appreciated. As for bucket list trips: Have done China and India and hoping to do Peru and Croatia in 2010.
