Fidelity has a rewards card with American Express that puts 2% of your purchases into your Retirement account (or other account). PenFed has a rewards credit card with a 5% discount for gas and 2% discount for groceries. They also have excellent rates for Savings Certificates.
I keep a little notebook with an entry everytime I spend any money (cash, card, whatever). I learned this from "Your Money or Your Life" a book that changed my thinking about what is enough. Making this entry has helped me to cut my monthly expenses in half.
