Looking for savings all the time; it is my habit to yearly check for insurance costs and savings. This year I got a hugh increase in my homeowners insurance and immediately set out to find a better deal. By bundling my home and car insurance I not only saved $150 on the home insurance but got a $25 reduction in car insurance. I also signed up for a electricity provider and will save 25% over Com Ed. They are also giving me a $50 Visa Card for signing up. I went yesterday to our Town Hall and spoke to the utility department to see if I qualify for a reduced rate they offer Seniors. I got it! There are programs in my area also that one can apply for if they need major home upgrades, such as roofs, windows, electrical or major pumbling problems. Over the past 10 years I have qualified and had all these upgrads and replacements. I have signed up for gas reward cards at local supermarkets, Several times I have had 10 cents off the price of a gallon of gas. All this adds up; even small savings over time give big results. If you don't have a computer, use the library computers (they are free). It is really worth the time spent. Just this morning, I changed my plan with Consumer Cellular to save $12 this month. I didn't use as many minutes. I check my usage often to best suit my needs. Happy surfing!
