This great stuff (and I have found it in the discount stores or cheap in regular grocery stores) is a fantastic poultice for any kind of insect bite or plant that "gotcha" with its thorns, etc. Just make a paste about like toothpaste and smooth it over the sore area. Within five minutes the swelling will disappear and the area will be pain-free.
I learned this nearly 50 years ago when I got bitten by some spider or insect and my hand swelled up like a baseball. An elderly neighbor woman took me into her kitchen and did the Adolph's Meat Tenderizer treatment on me, and seriously, my hand was unswollen and stopped hurting altogether withink 5 minutes.
I now consider it part of my emergency supplies, esp. for camping or outdoor hiking, or just working in the garden.
