Every year my husband and I plant a garden, I can and freeze all summer. The best way to freeze onions and peppers is to dice them and freeze. I was using so many freezer bags and realized I never needed a full pint for most recipes SO I started doing this several years ago----I dice them and then measure out 1 cup portions and put into snack bags--then put all the snack bags into a gallon size freezer bag. That way when a recipe calls for 1 cup of diced onion, all I have to do is pull out 1 snack bag and I am ready. I also rinse out that snack bag, hang it to dry, and use the next time around. Really saves on freezer bags this way. Do any of you have any other preserving money savers?
