In Response to RE: Medicaid on the Ballot by GailL1
I read the article. I have mixed feelings about this
proposal. I don’t like to see the shift of tax dollars to help the state pay
their employee’s dependent health insurance. On the other hand there are many people in the country that are eligible for Medicaid and don’t realize it and states historically have not been up front in letting these people know because of the drain on the system. Even with the feds helping with Medicaid costs even more now because of the ACA, it still doesn’t stick well. State health exchanges should be able to help these people out. I don’t know Vermont’s status on their exchange. The payments for doctors paid for Medicaid are to be brought up to the same payments currently paid to doctors who take Medicare patients. I don’t see a problem with doing that since treating the sick is just that. Currently raising the limit to 300% of poverty level is meant to help with those who would seek insurance in the State Exchanges. I would have to look that up again to see how it works exactly. As the article I posted mentioned, Medicaid is a well-run program. As always where to get money from and how much do states have control over the program is something that needs to be watched.
