The Man Who Never Was--WW2 thriller starring Clifton Webb, when the Brits tried to dupe the Nazis into believing they were landing in Greece, hoping to divert German forces there. It is about methodical spy work and nothing flashy.
North & South--BBC costume drama miniseries about a mill town, and a young man and woman from different parts of England. Based on a novel by Elizabeth Gaskill, who also wrote Cranford, and Wives and Daughters, both of which have been adapted.
Hotel Splendide--an oddball family runs a health spa hotel on a remote island. A black comedy reminiscent of Terry Gilliam. Stars include Daniel Craig and Toni Collette.
Today's Special--an Indian American chef has to quit his high end restaurant job to run the family restaurant when his father is ill. Dramedy with some romance. Stars Aasif Mandvi, Jess Weixler and Naseeruddin Shah and Madhur Jaffrey as the parents.
