I'm including this recommentation to this Movies for Grownups topic rather than the one for "Anyone Follow progress of films not out yet" as I don't judge that it will get much play in theatres due to its low budget and artistic sensibilities.
The Dream Play is about an unpaid stage actor who takes a curious role, re-enacting a script for an attractive but mature woman who had an unrequited love affair, and seems to want closure to her situation. This relates too to the actor, as he is escaping his past whereas she is trying to recapture hers. There is a bit of mystery at the beginning of the movie on who the actor actually is/his identity.
It is slow moving and took some time for me to get into it. Some of the acting is amateur but I thought the story was intriguing and the actress who played the mystery woman did a very good job. It is a very low-budget film made in the Chicago area and from the Q&A I don't think it has enough money to distribute widely.
