I LOVED The Hurt Locker. Amazing film. But not family fare: it was hard to sit through. Not bloody, just very very tense as this cool as a cucumber soldier disarms bomb after bomb. Directed by a woman! Astonishing film.
I've also drunk the Avatar Koolaid: I loved that movie, too. So i'm happy. :-)
a film nut
A small bit of trivia about the director of The Hurt Locker. Most movie fans are aware that the she was formerly married to James Cameron, director of Avatar. But the other night I saw the beginning of Titanic, where the researchers bring the old woman to their survey vessel. She was accompanied by her neice, and that part was played by Cameron's then wife, Katharine Bigelow. Small world.
