The manager of the only movie theater in this rural county gave me some interesting information yesterday about scheduling. It seems they have had a policy for years of no matinees when kids are in school, except on Fridays when they have new movies. Pretty surprising -- I could have sworn there were enough retirees around for weekday matinees, but no. Asked him if it had anything to do with the current economic slump, and he said no, it's always been this way during the five years he's been the manager and from what he's heard back to 1997 when the five-auditorium multiplex opened. Who would've guessed? And why are all those kids going to the movies when school is in session? Don't they have homework? Or classes at 1 p.m.?
How is it in your town?
Our movie theater caters to the senior citizens. On Monday we get in for $6.00 and for an extra $1.00 we can get all the free popcorn and sodas we want, Our theater has only been build recentley and is very modern. It has 6 theaters in it. The seats are big and compfy. On Wed they give the same deal to people who work 911, ambulance, police and firemen. Of course anyone can go they just don't get the deal. Flo
