Hey, that's what we're here for! If you're near LA in California , you ought to try and see "The Boys are Back," which is showing at the Landmark theaters there for the next few days. It's a truly warm-hearted film about a widowed dad struggling with raising his sons. Clive Owen is pretty awesome in it. The Informant! starts out just being lots of fun, and by the end you're thinking way more than you expected to. It sticks with you for days afterward.
If you saw "Paris J'Taime" a couple of years ago and liked it, you'll probably enjoy New York, I Love You, its sequel. A handful of directors contributed short films about life in the City, and as you'd expect, it's a mixed bag. But if you don't like the story you're watching at the moment, hold on because there'll be another one in five minutes or so!
And of course (shameless promotion here), everyone ought to try and get out to Las Vegas later this week for our Movies for Grownups Film Festival (Thursday through Saturday). We'll be showing some terrific indie films, including Lovely, Still (I'll be conducting a Q and A afterward with the star, Martin Landau), The Wrecking Crew (a really fun documentary about studio musicians from the 1960s), and The Messenger, a moving drama starring Woody Harrelson.
