With the exception of Robert Plant, the chaps that took the stage at London’s O2 last winter under the Led Zeppelin banner have been sending signals that they are ready to get serious about a tour. Whatever the group comprised of original Led Zeppelin members Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham will be calling themselves on the road, it seems certain that it won’t be Led Zeppelin.
Recent word from a spokesman for Jimmy Page said that the group has no intention of working together and using the name Led Zeppelin unless Robert Plant is involved. The latest word from Plant regarding any reunion tour is that he has no interest in touring at all for at least two years.
So it appears that all the rumors lately about Page, Jones and Bonham rehearsing with potential lead singers like Steven Tyler, Chris Cornell, Jack White, Dave Grohl and Myles Kennedy might be an indication that they have indeed decided to tour without Plant.
How fans will respond to a tour by “almost Zeppelin” will be interesting to see if it comes to pass. I certainly agree that their decision to avoid the use of the name Led Zeppelin is a wise choice, and lessens the possibility of diminishing the group’s legendary status.
There are probably a lot of fans that refuse to accept the name Led Zeppelin ever being used again after the passing of original drummer John Bonham, so a potential backlash from fans as a result of using the name Led Zeppelin for a group with only two original members is a real possibility.
Whatever they are up to, it seems that Page, Jones and Bonham are serious about it, and we seem to be inching a bit closer to some type of announcement from the trio. Whatever it ends up being, it is sure to have the rock newswire buzzing with activity.

In yet another chapter in the story of the Zeppelin that has so far refused to get off the ground, a new report has surfaced that says the whole thing has been called off.
www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/led-zeppelin-are-over-says-jimmy-pages-manager-190946" rel="nofollow">MusicRadar is reporting that they have been informed by Jimmy Page’s manager that Led Zeppelin is done for good. “Led Zeppelin are over! If you didn’t see them in 2007 [when they played a one-off reunion at London's O2 Arena], you missed them. It’s done. I can’t be any clearer than that.” That’s what Peter Mensch reportedly told MusicRadar.
The report also goes on to say that the group tried out a few singers to take the place of Robert Plant but none of them worked out, so Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham decided to call it quits.www.realrocknews.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/zeppelingoingdown.jpg" style="border-right:0.0px;border-top:0.0px;display:inline;margin:30.0px 0.0px 5.0px;border-left:0.0px;border-bottom:0.0px;" title="zeppelin-going-down" width="247" />
Apparently, Mensch is a bit tired of hearing about Led Zeppelin reunion plans and wished that people would stop talking about it. I seriously doubt that will happen unless fans hear directly from Jimmy Page or John Paul Jones saying that they have decided to abandon plans for any type of Led Zeppelin reunion.
As this recent report is hitting the news, there are other reports stating that the group is still seeking a singer to replace Plant and that a tour is in the works. Not only that, some reports are indicating that the group will also be recording new music, and have quoted Page’s manager (yeah, the same one quoted by MusicRadar) as their source!
This latest turn of events has probably set heads spinning around the world as millions of Led Zeppelin fans continue to wonder which story to believe.
Will there ever be any kind of Led Zeppelin reunion? Who the hell knows, but until the final word comes directly from either Page or Jones, the speculation is bound to continue.
Anyone for another bucket of popcorn? This drama doesn’t look like it will be ending anytime soon.
I DON'T CARE IF MENSH IS TIRED OF HEARING IT!!! FANS WILL ALWAYS TALK ABOUT A ZEP REUNION.... THAT'S LIFE.
