RE: Katy Trail - Missouri
Thanks for the description of the Katy Trail. I am originally from MO, but now live in WA state. I travel to MO often visiting family, and noticed the trail while driving along I-70. I wondered what it was all about. My husband is an avid backpacker and we both bicycle. We'll have to visit the area the next time we are "home".

Katy Trail - Missouri
Just making a suggestion for those of you who are interested in biking, or walking, that you may want to consider the Katy trail in Missouri. This is a rails-to-trail conversion, so trail is mostly flat and doesn't go about a 3-degree grade. It's the longest trail in the U.S., going across most of the state of Missouri, following the Missouri river. Good, varied, scenery, and goes through many river towns with many buildings on the National Registry.
We just did a 10-day trip, completing the trip with a weekend in St. Louis. You get a nice mixture of walking/hiking/biking in country/city which is the kind of trip we like to do with bikes.
