I was talking with a grandma who said she thinks Valentine's day is getting out of hand with kids getting all kinds of presents like it's Christmas...what do you think?
I can't believe what you shared about the deliveries at school! Never would have happened when I grew up! It's funny, it's kind of like getting flowers delvered to work on Valentine's Day...I always felt kinda left out when I saw all the flowers being delivered to others I can imagine how kids in schools feel if they don't get a delivery. Seems like that's setting them up to want that all their lives perhaps!
In my familiy, Valentine's Day has always been about LOVE! Any kind of love, not just romantic love. So we all exchange cards and usually celebrate with a nice dinner (home-cooked usually but sometimes out). My Dad has always been great about sending us candy or flowers when one of us (I have 3 sisters) is not in a romantic relationship so he's sure we get something, which I thnk is so sweet! My parents send cards to the grandchildren but nothing more.
I guess I figure any holiday that celebrates love is a good thing - we have so many negative things in our lives these days!
