I often wonder whether prescription drugs harm more people than they help. If you ever watch the TV commercials on some of the newer drugs, the possible side-effects they warn about seem to be a scary deterrent. Who would want to risk taking a medication that could cause heart attacks, strokes, cancer, difficulty breathing or even lead to death? Naturally, some people experience mild side effects that eventually subside as your system becomes more accustomed to the prescription. But in the past, one never heard about the deadly side effects because medicines were a lot safer then. For me, I take supplements instead. There are natural remedies for every affliction known to mankind, and they won't kill you. Granted, they take a little bit longer before you see any results, but they do more good than harm. I've had very good luck with them, whether it's been for lowering blood pressure or cholesterol. I absolutely refuse to take any statin drugs. However, always check with your health care professional before mixing drugs and supplements, as there could be dangerous drug interactions. But for the most part, supplements are safe and effective, and I might add, a lot cheaper than the newer drugs on the market.
