EQ, I can agree that physical activity is beneficial "...to the brain and mental alertness..."
In the past, I found that a morning run was most stimulative in thinking about and resolving problems. While a chronic knee problem prevents me from running, I do engage in some forms of daily physical activity in lieu of sedentary activity.
My aunt who lived into her nineties was hampered by a severe stroke for many years and could only walk with assistance. But she did a puzzle a day and was as the saying goes, "sharp as a tack" up to her death.
A supplement that I have found helpful to perk the memory is Phosphatydyl serene. I buy mine at i-herb.com and go with Natural Factors.
