Fruit juice drives me nuts, I agree. When it comes to a V8, though, I buy the low sodium version. It registers on the "less than exciting" scale, but with a little hot sauce and pepper it's almost as good as a bloody mary (without the fun part).
Agreed, the low or no sodium version of the tomato or tomato based veggie juices are a blah.
Adding garlic and/or pepper or a hot sauce makes it more palatable. As I suggest elsewhere sea salt and carrot juice is an improvement. Onion powder is another option to improving flavor, I have found, without the consequences of sugar or salt.
