And I totally forgot one of the largest expenses --- medical malpractice.
We will never control medical expenses until some type of reform is done in this area.
Too many people see health care as a winning lotto ticket. It's just too easy to sue for ridiculous amounts of money.
And again, what people seem to not understand is that the average doctor has a couple of malpractice threats yearly - with no solid basis - they are simply named because they were "names on a chart" -even if there is an actual doctor being charged (and again, he too may be innocent)just because this "bystander doctor may have covered the charged doctor's practice one night - so their name is on the chart of the patient suing - so they get named and sued
Or simply because families are unwilling to acept that medicine cannot save everyone - that bad outcomes do happen even in the face of good care - and a lawyer steps in and says - well, maybe, just maybe we have a case here. The stress level, cost of rising insurance yearly takes an unbeleivable toll - again, on many good doctors who according to the consensus so far in this discussion are merely "greedy, awful, etc.".
And this cycle is allowed to continue. thanks for making that point as well.
