I just learned a technique that seems to really work for relieving stress, quickly. My mind tends to constantly be on the go and I was looking for a way to find the "off" switch so I could have some peace and relaxation.
Try it and let me know if it works for you.
When you are feeling stressed, try paying attention to your breathing as it is. Whether you are breathing fast or slow, just simply pay attention to your breathing. Accept it as it is. This is key. Then pay attention to the in breath, the turning point, the exhale and then the turning point again. As you pay attention to your breathing, you will automatically start to relax. It has worked for me and I hope it helps you.
The site below provides greater detail on various breathing techniques. Some time ago, this was suggested by my choir director as a means to reduce becoming "breathless" while singing.
