Just some comments related to the Commandments and what Israel just did in Gaza.
Know that the commandments are not about the conduct of nations. Although they have influence. They are not about how groups interact. Although adherence to them allows for future cooperation. They are not even about the wrong done to you by others. They are simply the first boundaries of a path that is the covenant between you and God. They are about your conduct. The path is about you knowing: To break a commandment is an act of evil. To kill, even to save your life or the life of another, is still an act of evil. To steal, to end the hunger of a child, is still an act of evil. After the lives are saved, is there not the dead? After the hunger of the child is ended, is that which you stole still missing? What of the evil you created in that which you had to do? Does it live on? Does it rot and fester all it touches? Does it seek out and combine with the others of its kind to create something more terrible than the simple combination? Oh and yes to break a commandment is about the spawning of evil. You Jews of Israel who are bound to the path know this, or have you forgotten? The commandments as written in the Torah. The commandments of the Torah worded so even the humblest to the high cannot be confused or misled.
