I recently sold some stock to take gains & losses, and am sitting with a pile of money to reinvest. Nothing is jumping out at me as being a fantastic opportunity right now.
The fiscal situation seems like one of those "you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't" deals, if we'll be clobbered by higher taxes on ordinary income, and also by capital gains taxes, in whatever "the new normal" is tax-wise going forward.
In your regular (not IRA) accounts, do you focus on dividends, growth, or some combination of the two, when you select investments?
Do you have different strategies for what you select in qualified vs regular accounts, based on the differing tax consequences?
