I recently watched the 3-part P.B.S. series on genealogy and was especially interested in the DNA segment.
One of my male cousins consented, at my request, to having his DNA tested. As a result of that testing, we have been in touch with some others who carry the same DNA. In our case, it was a requirement that the DNA come from a male who still carried that particular surname. No mention of such a requirement was made during the PBS special.
Tonight (Friday March 5, 2010) NBC begins a 7-part series on genealogy. It will be aired at 8:00 EST each Friday for seven weeks. I plan to watch it in the hopes of learning new ways to tear down my brick walls.
Perhaps any of us who watch the series could post comments about the individual shows. I would be interested in hearing opinions from others in this group. Thank you.
