We can have a better health care system, it's just that most of ACA or even" single payer" won't do that unless more attention is paid to the reasons our health care prices and cost are so much higher than ANY where else! Medicare is touted as a great example of single payer, but it has only increased the prices and cost of health care! Even though it and Medicare and welfare only pay a sometimes small part of the bills they increase our federal deficit.

Kirk, please take no offense, but your argument against a single payer system is becoming quite lame. The reasons that you post as to why a single payer system wouldn't work don't make any sense. Medicare is not and should not be explained as an example of a single payer system, I wish that you would stop saying that. I don't believe that no one believes that, and if some do, they are mistaken. Therefore let's start from the beginning. A single payer system will cost people to see their taxes go up. no question about it. but, in order to have insurance for all, that is not unusual. What I think that you have a problem absorbing is the fact that the goverment or the State whichever will acquire the power will not tolerate those high costs from the drug industries, hospital and doctors. I sincerely believe that you just cannot see that as happening. After all that does go against your concept of a free economic system. But if you care to put those ingrained concepts that you seem to have apart, and begin to see how and why this would work, perhaps then you can discuss any of this objectively.
