AlotofGrey, actually there are almost as many versions of a Flat Tax proposed that you can find.
In sharp contrast to what NotHappening said and understands, I showed him a so called Flat Tax plan from Conservative Steve Forbes, which he agreed is a FLAT TAX.
But then I feel as if I'm in the Twilight Zone because within that Steve Forbes Flat Tax plan:
Money that is saved or invested is NOT taxed.
Income for a family of Four earning less than $46,000 is NOT taxed.
That doesn't sound anything like the system you or NotHappening proposed which is:
No joint anything.
