Golf, Paul Krugman gives the best explanation I've read for Republicans' rejection of both science and economic theory. Apparently a plurality of Republicans do not believe in evolution! This is a 9% increase in three years, and appears to be due to nothing more than tribalism.
To be a loyal Republican, you have to buy the complete package: no climate change, no evolution, no Keynesian economics, no abortion, no contraception, etc., etc. Unfortunately, we're up against pure emotion, not logic.

That deserves to be a separate topic and I will post it as one. I guess that today, in the second decade of the 21st century, in order to be a "good" Republican, you have to buy into the entire package; denial of global warming, denial of evolution, denial of contraception, denial of abortion rights and denial that the world is progressing despite what you believe. Perhaps the Republicans should move to Egypt since they seen to be in a state of de-Nile.
