Are there any surprises in those five states? Of course not and the one with not only the greatest percentage of uninsured as well as the highest number of uninsured is ..........
No there are no surprises. As usual your post is just a spin of the facts, is incorrect and biased. The truth is Texas does have the highest percentage of uninsured [28.8%] but California has the highest number [ 8,826,000]. Out of the top five only 2 are red states, Tx and La, 3 are blue states, Nv, Ca and Fl. There is a total of 8,604,000 uninsured in Tx and La combined. The total uninsured in Ca, Nv and Fl combined is 13,923,000 uninsured over 5,000,000 more uninsured.
Despite the offer of 100% coverage of Medicaid for the 1st 3 years there is no guarantee that the Federal government can afford the cost that long or after that time frame. We are borrowing 46 cents on the dollar now. Even with 100% coverage there is no guarantee that there will be enough Doctors to handle the increase or that want to accept the low pay offered by Medicaid. We don't even know what Obamacare is going to do to the actual cost of health care services until all of the taxes, waivers, and new regulations to come are in affect. The CBO has predicted that from 7M to 20M will lose their employer health care insurance and become part of the uninsured. We don't know how many will refuse to buy insurance and pay the penalties. We don't know what the total cost of subsidies to the government will be yet and if we can even afford to pay them.
Obamacare is the poorest piece of legislation ever written because it's cost was extremely underestimated, and none of the disadvantages were ever explained to the public much less our Legislators. Democrats with a smile on their face stood up and told us they had to pass the Bill so we could see what was in it. The answer "GARBAGE LEGISLATION" passed by underhanded methods. We deserved better.

"GARBAGE LEGISLATION" passed by underhanded methods.
Of course the Republican Congress and Administration never did anything so sneaky and underhanded. Medicare Part D is an example, where the vote was held open into the wee hours of the night to get enough votes. Nor where the Republicans pulled all sorts of underhanded tricks and threats to get it passed.
Suggest if you want to be honest, you would repeat the full context of Pelosi's statement rather than that of just taking a phrase out of context. But we know that you are always completely honest and above board don't we?
As far as the largest percentage versus largest number, I would believe that you're doing some double talk comparing the two, because the figures is relative.
But on the subject of medical care, I read in the morning paper where Texas is taking millions of dollars in federal funds intended to reimburse state-owned hospitals for shortfalls in Medicaid payments and diverting it to the general fund, which pretty well is synonymous to the Republican legislature's slush fund. Maybe they need those extra funds to pay for Perry's double dipping by drawing retirement while still employed as Governor.

It's very obvious that none of the House or Senate had time to read and absorb the 2600 page atrocity and had no idea what all was in it. Pelosi knew this when she made her disingenuous attempt to gloss over the fact that it hadn't been read. Liberals attempts to justify her self serving statement are just as disingenuous.
Instead of a knee-jerk reaction, had you read what my statement in regards to the top 5 states with the most uninsured was in response to perhaps you could have figured out why it was stated. I included links with the information to back up my figures for those who can do simple math. Golfingsailor was also disingenuous in his poorly disguised attempt to have readers think that the 5 states with the most uninsured were all Republican states. The thinnly veiled attempts to justify sailors disingenuous statements by Liberals is just more proof that truth in posting is not a priority with them.
What Texas has done or is doing was not part of my criticism and not being a resident there I didn't vote for him nor have I defended him. As for Obamacare even the CBO's new assessments are proof of "GARBAGE IN GARBAGE OUT" a lesson to be learned "read before voting".
PS when have I ever stated that Republicans have never produced any garbage legislation? I don't recall any Bills being passed by them with such glaring Chicago politics though.

Concerning you rant against Obamacare:
As one benefit of Obamacare, if you make less than $93,700 as a family ($46,021 as an individual) you and your loved ones will receive health insurance financing in order to help pay your premium when you purchase health insurance through the online marketplace. This means that you won't be paying the full cost of Obamacare. Middle and low income families and individuals will also be helped with out-of-pocket costs and Medicaid coverage if your family decides to offer it.
Because of the new health law, 12.8 million individuals and businesses got back more than $1.1 billion in rebates in 2012 from insurance companies who underspent on medical care.
A Quick Summary of ObamaCare Benefits
Obamacare offers you and your family many protections these protections include.
• No annual limits on healthcare
• Insurance companies can't drop you when your sick
• You can't be denied coverage for preexisting conditions
• Obamacare has a strong focus on preventive services
• A large improvement to women's health services
• Reforms to the Healthcare Industry to cut wasteful spending
• Better Care and Protections for Seniors
The Repug "plan" is to ABOLISH Medicare and replace it with a voucher system in 10 years. This was soundly defeated in 2012, but GOPers are like their Fundie anti-choice drones - they will never give up trying to destroy the Middle Class and destroying Medicare will make it impossible for the 99% to ever retire, placing them all in virtual involuntary servitude to the Uberrich owners of the GOP.
