are we reading the same thing ?
do you not read the word endorsed? or have you tightenrd your blinders a bit too tight. Open your eyes. READ "endorsed". The president will sign into law any of the 3 plans presently written by the House or one that finally comes out of committee. We can play the semantics game here, but I think most of us are not too stupid to understand ..
Gabe, I did better than read Jake Tapper's report of what Obama supposedly said. I listened to the townhall meeting itself. Tapper's report is inaccurate. Obama said that AARP--and the AMA and about four or five other organizations--were "on board" for healthcare reform. He did not claim that they had endorsed any specific bill. And that makes sense because Obama hasn't endorsed any specific bill. I'm not playing semantics. I'm telling you what was said.
I repeat: This is a very silly thread. I suppose the thrust here is to sow distrust of AARP, to make us believe they've lied to us and have been cutting backroom deals. This is nonsense. Anyone with an ounce of sense can see that the whole premise of the thread is illogical.
AARP has supported healthcare reform at least for the last seven years, since the time I first became a member of this board. They haven't changed their position at all. I hope I haven't disappointed the conspiracy theorists who would like to believe the worst.
