I have foolishly been paying dues every year to an organization that is today best known for promoting products for its members. Unfortunately AARP is now promoting the destruction of Medicare as we know it, by supporting a bill that will take billions of dollars from the program, dump another 50 million into a health care system that is already overwhelmed with shortages of medical professionals, and rushing to the edge of the cliff threatening to take the rest of us with them.
I realized just how little AARP does for its members. This latest venture into health care reform is rushed, ill-defined, costly, underfunded.
Now we are being called "neanderthals" and "nazis" "gangs" and other insults by the speaker of the house and Obama's staff because we aren't comfortable with this legislation in its present form and don't want to rush to pass such an important program. I voted for President Obama. I'm very disappointed that even he chooses to call me names because I happen to disagree on one issue.
I've worked all my life since 16 and have paid my dues. Now I'm being asked to give up my hard earned benefits for others that have never worked a day in their lives and those that have never paid taxes. Give them what they want but don't penalize me and complain that Medicare is so expensive because of me.
For those of you that are staying, good luck.
I'm not sure what you mean, but do suspect, about the 'destruction' of MediCare.
Are you aware that since it's inception, MediCare has been paying several hundred dollars to each MA provider EVERY month even though when we had no charges to our accounts?
This bill is REPLACING that multi-million dollar payout, with a grading bonus per service. The money saved by this is being use to eliminate our out-of-pocket costs and to in the minimum ensure that we have enough in the MediCare account to cover us and the new enrollies for a long time to come.
