The problem is that just stopping lobbyists would solve the problem.
Take Obama and his wife for instance. Technically the university that Michele sits on isn't lobbying Obama, but it just so happened that her pay went up CONSIDERABLY when he gained more and more power to swing money their way. I'm not saying that they are the only ones doing it, it is just as common on the other side of the isle.
They will always find a way to get money no matter if it is lobbying campaign funds, hiring family members, buying books they write, whatever. The only real solution (but will never happen) is to vote out folks that seem to suddenly become rich when they get elected to office. Doesn't matter if they are "our guy" or the "other guy", vote them out.
" vote them out."
another rare point where we agree.
In primaries, if one wants to cling to the sand in which his head is firmly embedded, but the important part is to be sure they know how and why they are categorically being voted out.
It's not that the crime is incumbency, it's really incumbency in a corrupt system without seeing that and having the integrity to work to change it.
Candidate Obama saw it, had admitted it to himself, and then succumbed to the age-old mollifier of the corrupt status quo - "you can't change it if you don't win."
Well, that's come to: "you can't change it if you do."
We need to say, "you can't win if you don't." (change it)
