Folks, this point needs to be made again and again. Insurers change their policies all the time. They pull out of markets all the time. In the 20 plus years that I purchased insurance on the individual market, my insurance policy changed about 20 times.
The ACA grandfathers every single policy that was in effect in 2010, no matter how inadequate, no matter how far it falls short of the minimum benefit requirements under the ACA. The reason policies are being dropped is that they were changed since 2010 (or they were purchased since then).
There is only one way that President Obama could have prevented the cancellation of these policies: by nationalizing the insurance industry.
Your insurance company is not being honest if they tell you that they are dropping your policy because of the ACA. They should have told you three years ago that they changed your policy so that it would no longer comply with the grandfathered provision of the ACA.
