As I posted on another thread. They created the company in the 60's. By the 70's, they were opening stores at an astounding rate. "Average Americans" shopped there. It was continually publicized that they came into rural areas and put other stores out of business. No, they didn't do that. The townspeople chose not to go to their local hardware or clothing store, all on their own, and put the local businesses out. This was happening long before poor economic conditions.
Most of your bullet points were highly publicized --- the public, your peers and mine, chose to ignore it. The company would not have grown, and the owners worth more than any number of countries, if the masses had not gone there.
