In Response to Re: The TOTAL TRUTH Concerning the Deficit:
Regan did numerous tax-cuts. Those tax-cuts did not change the spending our Congress did. They simply increased the # of borrowed dollars used to do it. So he started undoing those tax-cuts. Just one problem. The Republicans got a taste of borrowed dollar spending and they liked it. He did not, they did.
Bush Senior did what Reagan did. He used a tax-hike to cut the borrowed dollars our Congress spent. That infuriated the Republicans in our Congress. They made sure he was a one-term president.
JrBush knew he had to increase the borrowed dollars available for his Congressional Republicans to spend or they would make him a one-term president also. So he made massive tax-cuts. We went to war. He made tax-cuts. As our federal spending increased, our Congressional Republicans chanted tax-cuts, tax-cuts, we want more. So he gave them more. Then we crashed and they wanted more.
Romney knew what Bush knew. If you want every Republican in our Congress to back you for president promise them a spending increase and big honking tax-cut. They will be in a borrowed dollar spending delirium. So he did that.
So he promised them a $2T spending increase and a big honking $5T tax-cut. Each Republican drooled while they crawled all over each other trying to get us to vote for him.
What do those same Republicans say right now? The only thing that will not be cut from our federal spending is the # of borrowed dollars used to do it.

BUT since they know Government spending is the ONLY way to create the consumer demand that will fix the jrbush disaster, the Repugs absolutely REFUSE to spend money here in America, despite the FACT it is the cheapest money in history, PROVING the American economy is the World's choice of a safe place to invest.
Seems one side effect of the GOPer economic policy is they have driven a HUGE segment of the economy "into the shadows" where it isn't being taxed.
