When did this meme arise that the Nazis were a far-left organization? I've noticed virtually everyone on the right repeating this idea, but I'd never seen it before about three years ago.
You can't rewrite history, Idle, no matter how uncomfortable it may make you. I can understand why you wouldn't want to embrace Hitler and his atrocities. But whatever you may think of the topic of this thread, Hitler and the Nazis were indubitably a rightwing movement. Hitler hated both communists and socialists, who were his first victims and targets--and the first occupants of the concentration camps. Hitler was rabidly anticommunist and pro-corporatist. He was helped into power by the German corporate community. Large German corporations like Farben profited directly from the concentration camps--they erected work camps alongside the death camps, and used slave labor.
Don't be confused by the Nazis coopting the word "socialist" in their name. They were great enemies of the German Socialist Party.
You are both correct, fangoh amd jimc.
It is obvious from their foolish, incorrect statements the liberal members of this group have absolutely no understand of world history!
The simple fact is the Nazi party in pre-war Germany was a "far-left" socialist party pure and simple! The party's socialist policy was meant to give social welfare to German citizens deemed part of the Aryan race.
The term "NAZI" actually stands for "National Socialist German Workers' Party"! The Nazis in Germany favored "socialism" and opposed the Russian form of communism.
In fact, all health care before and after the founding of Nazi Germany under Adolph Hitler was socialized!
(Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, DAP).] To ease concerns among potential middle-class nationalist supporters, Drexler made clear that unlike Marxists, the party supported middle-class citizens, and that the party's socialist policy was meant to give social welfare to German citizens deemed part of the Aryan race."
