I wonder how that will go over with the Teamsters Union that represents most of their drivers and warehouse workers. UPS has been a strongly unionized workplace for a long time.
I suppose this may only apply to non union workers since to drop spouses from coverage would be a violation of the collective bargaining agreement they have with the union. Of course this may have the opposite effect and encourage more UPS workers to join the Teamsters Union. If this is true, get ready for a strike against UPS from their unionized employees.
Anyone can blame any adverse decision on Obamacare, even the next Atlantic or Gulf hurricane. But the fact remains that under the present law, there is nothing to stop any employer from eliiminating spouses or dependents from group health insurance coverage or increasing the employee contributions.
If this is true, then this is another excellent reason why this country needs to scrap the employment based system of health insurance. Also if this is true, those dumped spouses will be able to access the exchanges and depending on their income may be eligible for a premium subsidy under Obamacare, something they do not have at the present without the ACA.
