At least Grandpa is consistent in his liberal views.

It does seem that once in a while opposing opinions mesh, and I appreciate that comment.
I really don't think my view on this is a liberal one, but a constitutional one that is not exactly just against this the present administration, but the previous one also, more from an independent viewpoint, I don't consider myself to be a dogmatic liberal. That is something that both sides here seem to abhor.
The idea is that sure, this administration might not make illegal use of the database, but what about future administrations that might use it for political purposes? It could become a slippery slope. Nothing to hide? Who knows...and who knows how information can be twisted to suit a particular viewpoint. Just look at some of the posts here, even in this thread, where posts are being twisted to attack other posters.
No, I believe the fourth amendment is absolute, just like some are saying about the second amendment.
No doubt this post will also be 'attacked' like others have been. But whatever.

Nothing worth attacking...you provided your unsupported opinion and that's fine, of course. What is truly revealing is when one poster say's "two intelligent people can disagree" and you still argued your point and then made silly assumptions about the other. Most would call that a lack pof maturity...I sure do. But whatever.
