This seems to be a great mystery - the Nation does better , economically speaking, under Democratic rule, but its not strange at all IF you really examine Repug policies.
First off, Repugs first official act when gaining power will be to cut taxes for the Uberrich, and no matter how they lie about it, those lost revenues NEVER get replaced - we're ALWAYS worse off in terms of our debt and deficit, because of those Repug tax giveaways.
The next thing Repugs do is slash Government programs that benefit the 99% and increase the DOD budget. Thing is, and you can verify this with any Macro Econ text, while a tax dollar spent on a domestic program adds around $1,60 to the GDP, a dollar spent on defense adds only $0.90. So for every dollar the GOPers shift from domestic programs to DOD, the GDP takes a $1.70 hit - you go from a gain of $1.60 to losing a dime..
Then while the Uberrich love it when their lackeys in the GOP slash their taxes, they know this will DEPRESS the economy, and they begin to retard spending by the corporations they control. This is exactly what a smart businessman would do -GOPer-rule means less money in the pockets of the 99%, hence less demand, hence lower sales and to avoid piling up costly inventory, they scale back production.
The lower production means lower employment, which also means less demand, and the GOPer-rule enters its inevidable downward spiral until the trolls are removed from office and Democrats can put things right again.
The Uberrich love it that their GOPers have arranged the transfer of an ever-increasing share of the National Wealth from the 99% to the Uberrich, but they also know that while they benefit PERSONALLY from having GOPers in charge, they also know the GOPers moronic approach to managing the economy spells disaster for businesses, and they respond accordingly.
The only way to prevent GOPer-induced depressions is to make sure they never gain political power.
