When any 65 year old person was in college, it is a sure thing that no curriculum he studied had one damn thing to do with the effects of CO2 on the climate. This is a new and emerging field of study, rather like the study of the human genomes and recombinant DNA.If some ancient whiskerando who is predisposed to disagree with the findings of climate science because he thinks it means he will have to pay more in taxes claims he is an expert because he took a course in organic chemistry in 1962, he deserves to be ignored, because this has zilch to do with the subject.
The actual pertinent knowledge is an understanding of how the scientific method determines what is true and what is not true by a series of focused experiments and studies of pertinent phenomenae, and (2) a knowledge of where experts in a given field can be found. It is obvious that a large bunch of the so-called "experts" among the deniers are TV weathermen or people in fields far removed from climetology and meteology.
