When our oldest as in high school he had an after-school job working in a local supermarket. Come Halloween, it was sort of a tradition for the young employees to TP the owners' home. That year some busybody neighbor called the police who came picked them up. My son called me from the police station and I just laughed and told him to sit tight [we were friends with the owners]. Sure enough their boss was contacted and the police had a good laugh joking with the kids because they were informed of the permission, but this incident shouldn't have happened if the busybody, as in this case, had minded her own business. I believe that it was mentioned in one report here where her son frequently played with this kid.
No doubt that any chance this kid might have become an asset to society has been destroyed by this incident. In those interviews I've seen, he seems like he is a polite kid, or one with potential just needing some guidance, in spite of the reported record of misbehaviour on his part.
As far as school boards, superintendents, etc are concerned, back when my kids were in school, I had a few run-ins with them and faced them down. And when I did, I dared them to take it out on my children in school. It wasn't about anything my children did, but the policies of the school in general. Just like this incident, if the parents owned the house, they paid school taxes and even if they didn't, it is an overreach of authority.
