There are a lot of mandatory expenses that must be paid before a business can even think about adding more jobs. The cost of government regulations, corporate taxes higher than most industrialized countries, payroll taxes, raw materials, equipment, property, etc. must all be paid before you can even think about people to do the work. Employees are the most important asset of a business, but they cannot come first when it comes to the budget since many things must be handled just to keep the business open. The Government and suppliers must be paid before any work can be done. If you fail to comply with all the government costs, you are out of business or pay steep fines. Either way, money that could be used for payroll is gone. Each new regulation carries a cost with it. Not only does this reduce dollars for paying employees, the cost ispassed on to consumers. If you have no money left after government compliance to purchase facilities, equipment, and products needed to run your business, again out of business or fewer employees. You could even add in some cost due to labor union strikes and demands that drive up the cost of business. A single political party or group cannot be blamed. The jobs have gone overseas where there are fewer regulations, lower taxes, lower wages, no union demands, and an abundant supply of people who really want to work. I am not saying it is right, just that this iswhere the jobs are. I get upset when I call a customer service number and the person speaks very poor english. I do not like what is happening either, but I know getting rid of a single political party will not fix it. All politicians are self serving. To solve the problem we need to replace all politicians with patriots like we had when the country was founded. But where are they?
