In Response to Rich V: Re: Iran Said to Seek a Nuclear Accord to End Sanctions:
Sorry, "played for a fool"? Hmm. Let me see. Assad is getting rid of his chemical weapons. Obama did not have to go to Congress to do it. We are not invading anybody. Obama continues to extract us from the big mess that the last president made in the middle east. So..............explain yourself.
Thanks for requesting more input. Lack of quick, decisive 'smack down' actions by the U.S. vs. Iran and Libya have set the table for dominos, starting with Syria. I am 1000 % behind you in wishing for extraction from old entanglements in the Mideast and avoidance of new ones. You are confusing momentary achievements with unrealized long term gains.
But my thinking is that telegraphing weakness, if that is how he is perceived, will lead to a conflict from which we cannot turn away, and that this will be later/larger/more complex/more costly/ & entail massively greater casualties vs. early decisive strikes that are legitimate and in our interest to protect U.S. territory such as our embassy in Libya, or that of allies. We were in the neighborhood anyway; when you let that count for nothing it is perceived as weakness. The apology tour did not buy us any love for the west in general or the U.S.A. in particular. Thanks for asking. We will both have a far better answer by just staying alive a few more years / God willing / & watching the matter unfold.
