Anyone who has ever served in the military knows that when there is a reduction in force personnel are either reduced to their "permanent" rank or separated from the service.
Many an Honorable Discharge shows the rank held at separation while the accompanying DD 214 shows the "permanent rank" which is much lower.
We are reducing military forces. There will be those who will either be separated from the service or reduced in rank. And they will be those who are the least necessary.
Many years ago there was a song with the line "I've got my captain working for me now, in my father's beanery..."
I just refreshed my memory. Wow! I am older than dirt.
